Mr. Kehoe began painting in the 1960s in Dublin.  He favored landscape painting and his work was exhibited in Cambridge’s on Grafton St, the Killakee Art Studio and Hellfire Studio, to name a few.

He moved to the Oilgae County, Wexford area in 1976, where he opened his own studio and Art Gallery in the center of town.  He became interested in the Expressionist technique and experimented with many techniques and styles.  Color was important in his work and he liked a strong composition.  His landscapes speak for themselves as he shared his vision of the Irish countryside.

John Gerard Kehoe was born in Dublin in 1948 of Wexford parents. His father John Joseph Kehoe was born at Tincurry, Ferns. His mother Ann Kehoe, a native of Scarawalsh, was the Post Mistress of Oylegate until 1988. A self-taught painter, his famous painting, Vinegar Hill, 1798, was inspired by Nicholas Furlaong. He published a book of plays written by himself from 1981-85 in 1993. The title of the book is ‘Plays’ by John Kehoe. Two of his one-act plays THe Interview and Guns for a Witness were performed by Michael Way and the Riff Raff Theatre Company in Wexford. Another play Lemon Moon has been read at the National Theatre and received favorable comment. Mr. Kehoe passed away October 4, 2017, and was laid to rest in the FernsCemetary, County Wexford
