You just never know….some times a disaster turns into something good.
As you know, John has been making furniture for a few years, while most of our sales have been on ETSY , we have had our furniture in local shops.
Our last experience did not bode well. We had a big blow up with the shop owner, she subsequently went out of business, and we now have a ton of furniture in our condo. Actually the lower level has three kitchen tables, and a bunch of French chairs.. with my treadmill centered in the middle..a funny picture.
I found a local home interior shop keeper who came out to our house to look at the furniture…She especially expressed an interest in all the treadle sewing machine tables BUT three were in OAK. Actually, they are all made of solid oak but three were stained oak also. “Never work, todays customer only wants the dark walnuts and mission furniture” …she said
So John completely refinished two..stripped down to raw wood and refinished in dark brown- mission oak. I must admit they look really good. I was allowed to paint and antique wax one.
I love love love how it turned out!!!. I never would have done this if the designer had not come and John would not have been happy with my painting the piece . So tell me, what do you think.
BTW, the designer never called back
Can’t find pix of the before of this one, but here is the before of the one John refinished mission brown- same oak stain as mine
